Barrett Brooks

Barrett Brooks is an executive business coach, writer, and the CEO of Presence-Based Coaching. His work is grounded in a belief that has been shaped through lived experience: meaningful leadership and lasting success require attention not only to what we build, but to who we are becoming along the way. In other words: what’s your inner journey of outward success?
In Barrett’s executive coaching practice, he works primarily with seven-figure creator-founders across industries including media, education, food, travel, and entrepreneurship. He supports leaders in clarifying vision, strengthening decision-making, and growing their organizations in ways that remain aligned with their values and well-being. His coaching blends strategic insight with deep personal development, helping leaders move beyond performance and into leadership that is integrated, sustainable, and internally resourced.
Barrett’s relationship with Presence-Based Coaching began as a student, where the curriculum, community, and presence practices deeply influenced how he coaches and leads. Today, he serves as CEO and steward of the organization, holding responsibility for a 20-year legacy of world-class coach training.
Prior to PBC, Barrett served as Chief Operating Officer at Kit, where he helped scale the company from $3M to $30M in annual recurring revenue while contributing to a culture rooted in trust, transparency, and shared ownership. Earlier in his career, he worked directly with Seth Godin, a renowned author and thought leader in marketing and creative work—an experience that continues to inform his commitment to human-centered leadership. Barrett is also the host of Good Work, a podcast focused on the inner experience of leadership and success, and the often unseen questions that arise along the way.
Barrett is an ICF-certified coach, trained in somatic coaching, and a licensed Highlands Ability Battery consultant. He also writes Little Leadership Lessons, a weekly newsletter for entrepreneurs and leaders seeking to grow their leadership capacity without burnout or self-betrayal.
He lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife and two sons. Raised in Atlanta, he carries forward a lasting appreciation for sports, hip-hop, and Southern hospitality, complemented by a grounding love for forests, shared meals, and honest conversation. At the center of his work is a steadfast commitment to leadership that is effective and deeply human.
